Patient Liaison

Role and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Patient Access Manager, the Patient Access Representative is responsible for obtaining/verifying accurate and complete demographic and insurance information, financially securing and/or collecting out-of-pocket responsibility to maximize clinic and surgery center collections.   This may include but is not limited to:

  • Obtain, verify, and enter complete and accurate demographic information on all accounts to facilitate smooth processing through the revenue cycle
  • Ensures all assigned work queues are monitored and cleared on a daily basis. 
  • Financially secures all patient accounts to maximize clinic and/or surgery center collections in a customer service oriented fashion 
  • Verifies insurance benefits for all plans associated with patient, confirming the correct payor and plan is entered into the practice management system 
  • Obtains insurance referrals and/or authorizations as required by individual insurance plans, documenting authorization/referral numbers in the appropriate fields for accurate billing 
  • To provide the highest possible customer service, patients are pre-registered 2-10 working days in advance of appointment/surgery 
  • Contacts patient/guarantor prior to date of service to inform them of estimated payment due at the time of service. Documents details of all successful and unsuccessful attempts at patient/guarantor contact 
  • Maintains appropriate documents, reports and files in order to comply with all applicable laws and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2-4 years minimum experience working within a physician or billing office required
  • Excellent written and verbal skills as well as outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations required.
  • Understanding and ability to read and interpret insurance eligibility information
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Organized; sets priorities; meets deadlines
  • Maintains current knowledge of all organizational compliance policies and procedures. Assimilates compliance standards into all facets of work

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Greenway PrimeSuite, Medisoft and/or Advantx
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • College Degree or some Post-Secondary education preferred
  • Certification in Revenue Cycle preferred
