Nurse Manager Surgical Services

EHI is currently seeking an Registered Nurse Manager to join our Riverside Surgery Center who finds joy in helping others achieve optimal health.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all nursing care given to all patients within the surgery center, according to age related nursing principles.
  • Provides for safe transportation of all patients within the surgery center.
  • Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Supervises and oversees sterilization process.
  • Supervises care of OR suite and equipment to ensure cleanliness, sterility and operational ability of all items.
  • Directs all safety measures to prevent accidents, harm, or injury in any way to patient, staff, or equipment.
  • Assists surgeons in operations through provision of qualified staff; formulates schedule which provides staff available for all procedures.
  • May perform duties of RN circulatory and PACU nurses for all cases.
  • Assigns personnel; delegates specific duties and tasks.
  • Provides and controls supplies and equipment needed for successful operation of the Surgery Center. Directs and delegates control of inventories to ensure proper amounts available.
  • Verifies that narcotics and controlled substances are counted and locked, per center policy.
  • Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
  • Evaluates needs for new or different items in regard to present and new trends or needs of the department
  • Continuously supervises staff to ensure quality of patient care.
  • Reviews performance improvement monitoring; analyzes and evaluates Surgery Center to improve patient care.
  • Develops, revises, and implements Surgery Center policies and procedures.
  • Participates in planning Surgery Center budget.
  • Provides orientation for new staff members.
  • Responsible for Credential files for the Physicians, Anesthesia and surgery center staff
  • Demonstrates knowledge of disaster and emergency policies and procedures.
  • Communicates job expectations; reports the results of quality improvement monitoring.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings. Allows staff to participate in problem solving.
  • Completes other duties, within the Board of Registered Nurses scope of nursing practice.
  • Oversees the ongoing training for the staff and physicians, to include; OSHA, Infection Control, HIPAA and CMS required courses
  • Responsible for working with outside vendors to maintain the surgery facility is in good working order as required by State of Georgia and CMS guidelines.

Professional Requirements:

  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal guidelines.
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Wears identification while on duty.
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, and staff.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Conducts committee, QAPI, and management meetings, as appropriate.
  • Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, and safety and infection control.
  • Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directive to personnel and encourages departmental meetings and discussions.

Education Requirements:

  • Must be licensed in the state of Georgia as an Registered Nurse; current and up to date
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • ACLS/BLS certification
  • Infection control certified
